By offering basic and enhanced communications services, we maximize shareholder return on investment allowing us to continually reinvest in new technologies to ensure the continued growth of our company. History of Mid-Missouri Telephone The original part of the Mid-Missouri Telephone Company was formed May 18, 1903, as the Gilliam Telephone Company. The other part of the Mid-Missouri Telephone Company was formed May 18, 1928, as the Marshall Junction Telephone Company. Harold A. Jones, as supervisor of the Marshall Junction Telephone Company, built metallic lines to service business around Marshall Junction. To simplify the record-keeping, on November 1932, the Gilliam Telephone Company and Marshall Junction Telephone Company became Mid-Missouri Telephone Company. In 1932, Mid-Missouri Telephone Company acquired the Thomas J. Davis Telephone lines, which served the areas southwest and northwest of Arrow Rock. In 1946, the management of the Blackwater-Arrow Rock Telephone Company made an offer to Harold Jones to purchase the Blackwater and remaining Arrow Rock exchanges. He accepted. At this time, Mid-Missouri Telephone had four exchanges: Gilliam, Marshall Junction, Blackwater and Arrow Rock. A dial conversion program had begun in February 1958 for the four original exchanges. Later as Mid-Missouri Telephone Company grew, it acquired Nelson, Pilot Grove and Bunceton exchanges from the United Telephone Company. Finally, Fortuna, Speed, Latham, High Point and Miami were added to Mid-Missouri Telephone's exchange area. It was not long until all these exchanges had modern dial service. The upgrade to direct distance dialing emerged. The goal of Mid-Missouri Telephone Company is to keep pace with modern technology and continue to provide subscribers with good telephone service at a reasonable rate. |
